Data-Driven Solutions: Our National Expansion to Combat Human Trafficking
Jan 9, 2025
At Allies Against Slavery, we're advancing a clear vision: ensuring communities across the US have access to the data needed to prevent and address human trafficking. Today, we're proud to announce the national expansion of our Lighthouse platform, marking a significant step forward in data-driven solutions for anti-trafficking work.

Moving Beyond Traditional Approaches
Our work begins with a straightforward observation: when trafficking remains difficult to identify and track, our systems can't respond effectively. Common challenges in the field include identifying potential victims, allocating resources efficiently, building strong cases, and measuring impact.
We've developed practical solutions to address these challenges through our comprehensive data ecosystem.
Our Integrated Solution
The Lighthouse platform consists of four core components:
Screening Platform: Evidence-based tools that help organizations systematically identify trafficking indicators
Data Platform: Advanced aggregation of multiple data sources to provide actionable insights
Research: Collaborative analysis with academic partners to deepen our understanding
Policy Support: Data-informed resources for legislative advancement
Evidence of Progress
Our partners are already demonstrating the practical impact of data-driven approaches. In Texas, our work with state agencies has helped identify trafficking patterns in previously overlooked regions, leading to more targeted interventions.
Unbound Now, one of our implementation partners, used our data to make strategic decisions about resource allocation. Their evidence-based approach led to the discovery that one in ten youth in their local juvenile detention center had experienced trafficking, enabling them to adjust their programs accordingly.
Technical Innovation with Social Impact
Our development partnership with Annie Cannons exemplifies our commitment to creating lasting change. Through this collaboration, we've not only built robust technical solutions but also created opportunities for survivors to build careers in technology. Twenty-five Annie Cannons students have contributed over 7,000 hours to our platform development, with 75% moving into full-time technology positions.
National Platform Features
Our expanded platform now includes:
Comprehensive federal prosecution data visualization
State-by-state policy tracking and analysis
Public access to key trafficking data and trends
Interactive mapping tools for pattern identification
Looking Forward
This national expansion represents the next phase in our mission to equip every community with the data tools they need. We're already working with over 200 organizations and 2,000 professionals across Texas, Louisiana, and Florida, and we're ready to scale these solutions nationwide.
