Data Driving Change: How Our 2024 Impact Report Illuminates Pathways to Freedom
Mar 18, 2025
In 2024, we reached a significant milestone in our mission to harness data to illuminate and eradicate human trafficking. Our annual Impact Report reveals not just numbers, but the stories behind our work and the tangible difference data is making in the fight against exploitation.
Seeing the Invisible

Human trafficking thrives in the shadows—a complex problem that's often misunderstood and difficult to measure. At Allies Against Slavery, we've spent the past year developing and deploying data-driven solutions to make the invisible visible. In 2024, our Lighthouse Screening platform helped partners conduct 39,423 screenings, identifying 3,286 youth as "Clear Concern" for human trafficking who might otherwise have remained hidden.
Beyond Identification: Creating Change

The impact of our work extends far beyond identification. When John, our CEO, reflects on our journey from a small group of volunteers in 2010 to where we are today, one truth stands clear: "Collectively, we would never be able to solve a problem we couldn't see or measure."
Today, over 200 partners and more than 2,000 field professionals are using Lighthouse across three states to identify victims and access a dozen data sources in one place. The data isn't sitting idle—it's creating real change:
Schools, community clinics, and child advocacy centers are prioritizing screening and victim identification
State agency leaders are leveraging data to make better decisions about strategy and resource allocation
Law enforcement stakeholders are visualizing their data to target hotspots and enhance training
Survivor leaders are citing research to educate judges, juries, and policymakers
Researchers are leveraging one of the largest datasets on human trafficking to develop predictive risk models
Building a National Data Ecosystem
In 2024, we expanded Lighthouse Data by integrating two critical national datasets: federal human trafficking prosecutions and state human trafficking policies. This expansion provides deeper insights into national trends and equips stakeholders with the information needed to make informed decisions.
The State of Florida joined Texas and Louisiana as our third state partner, marking a significant step in our national expansion. As Joan Reid, USF professor and director of the TIP Lab, notes: "Using Lighthouse to create Florida's version of a data dashboard will help us see, understand, and act upon the data collected."
Research and Policy: Driving Systemic Change

Our newly launched Research & Insights program produced impactful publications, including the Louisiana Annual Human Trafficking Data Report and "Youth Screening Insights.” These resources, along with opinion editorials and conference presentations across multiple states, are informing policy decisions and public understanding.

On the policy front, we held 12 direct advocacy meetings with 10 legislative offices in 7 states and helped draft legislation in Texas. Our data informed 16 state and federal legislative proposals, ensuring that anti-trafficking policies are grounded in evidence rather than assumptions.
The Power of Partnership

None of this work would be possible without our partners—from state agencies to foundations, from service providers to survivor leaders. As our name suggests, we are truly "Allies Against Slavery," working together to create a world where every community has the data it needs to prevent trafficking.
